Cate Blanchett Wears Golden Globes 2014 Dress to Cannes 2018

Stars are just like Us — they rewear their clothes but seldom on the red carpet. Well, that is unless they are the queen otherwise known as Cate Blanchett. The iconic actress hit the red carpet the 2018 Cannes Annual Film Festival in the South of France looking characteristically regal in a dress that — plot twist —  she wore to the Golden Globe Awards in 2014.

Let’s turn back time for a moment. Blanchett originally wore the gorgeous black lace Armani Prive gown the night that she won a Globe for her performance in Blue Jasmine. The look was exquisite and fit for a winner head to toe with statement diamond earrings, a faux bun and soft pink lipstick to complement.

Flash forward to Cannes 2018 and the critically acclaimed actress is once again wearing the classically elegant gown. The twist: she remixed the look with a low updo with a center part and pale peach lip to keep things fresh. But don’t worry, she still opted for some major drop earrings as an accent.

On the decision to rewear the style, Blanchett’s stylist Elizabeth Stewart told Eco-Age, “ I think the stigma around re-wearing a dress is arbitrary and makes no sense.”

Blanchett isn’t the only star to deliberately repeat looks — she joins illustrious company with the likes of Kate Middleton and even Tiffany Haddish who has repeatedly worn her white Alexander McQueen dress to numerous formal occasions proudly.

And to that we say cheers to cherishing and re-wearing our favorite dresses for a lifetime!
