Olivia Munn Reveals Her Best Beach Body Secrets and Diet Rules
As a former bikini model and all-around pretty person, Olivia Munn has a treasure trove of beach body secrets — and she shares them all with Us in an exclusive interview at the Luxury House by #spgamex to celebrate the new Starwood Preferred Guest American Express Luxury Card. Here, we round up the Magic Mike actress’ answers to life’s biggest fitness and diet conundrums:
Her Last-Minute Bikini Body Prep Rule
Procrastinators rejoice! If you haven’t kept up with your fitness regimen, but suddenly find you have to slip into a bathing suit, Munn has the answer. “It’s super simple, but it’s just drinking so much water. The more water you drink, it just speeds up your metabolism, helps flush everything out,” she says. “And if you put lemon in your water, it’s really great to help you drain a lot of things out.”
Getting That Olivia Glow on the Beach
The 38-year-old is a fan of collagen supplements, in particular, Vital Proteins’ individual powder packets. “You put those into your drink and you drink it every day,” she recommends. “When you are… going to the beach or in your bathing suit, it just helps give your skin, all over from head to toe, just a really nice, supple glow. It fills in all the lines and it gets into your muscles as well, so everything just feels lifted and hydrated and smooth.”
How to Mind Your Butt Like Munn
While filming The Predator in Vancouver, she connected with trainer Rob Williams of Sportscore Performance. “We actually got really obsessed, well, I got really obsessed, with trying to get a really strong butt,” Munn reveals. The next logical step, of course, was to create her own butt workout device. “We actually have started working on creating this contraption that is supereasy that I can kind of use wherever I go that gives you the best butt workout,” she says. “So I’ve been kind of practicing as we’ve been working on different things, perfecting it and tweaking it.”
Destroying Exercise Boredom Before It Starts
You won’t catch Munn slogging away on the treadmill. “I kind of switch it up a lot, just because I get superbored,” she tells Us. “I don’t know how people go to the gym every day and do the same thing over and over.” Instead, she looks for something that engages her attention and body equally. “I do martial arts a lot, and so I have a routine that I can do that’s different every single day. It takes me only about 30 or 45 minutes.”
To Keto or Not to Keto?
“One of my best friends is doing keto,” Munn tells Us. “She’s going to die of a heart attack soon, that keto thing. She looks great, but I don’t know how people can do that.” Instead, the actress ditches fad diets and aims for balanced nutrition — at least when she’s focusing on healthy habits. “When I’m trying to be more thoughtful, I do that 80/20 diet, it’s a really healthy diet to go by,” she notes. “Eighty percent of what you eat is fruits and vegetables and 20 percent is everything else, so it’s enough of a balance.” Still, she admits that she’d like to work on her consistency. “It’s something that I would love to get better about, just coming up with a better system that I follow every day,” she says. “I know people who are extremely strict, and they do their work out every day and they eat the right things and all that. I just, I admire those people.”
