Serena Williams Goes Topless, Sings for Breast Cancer Awareness
A new side of Serena Williams! The athlete showed off her pipes and went topless in a video for breast cancer awareness on Saturday, September 29.
In the clip, posted on her Instagram account, Williams sings “I Touch Myself.” As the camera pans out, the 37-year-old tennis player can be seen covering her breasts with both hands.
“This Breast Cancer Awareness Month I’ve recorded a version of The Divinyls global hit ‘I Touch Myself’ to remind women to self-check regularly,” Williams captioned the video. “Yes, this put me out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to do it because it’s an issue that affects all women of all colors, all around the world. Early detection is key – it saves so many lives. I just hope this helps to remind women of that.”
She continued: “The music video is part of the I Touch Myself Project which was created in honor of celebrated diva, [Divinyls frontwoman] Chrissy Amphlett, who passed away [in 2013] from breast cancer, and who gave us her hit song to remind women to put their health first.”

Williams also shared a topless photo of herself on her Instagram Story to advocate for breast self-exams.
Earlier this month, the 23-time Grand Slam winner was fined $17,000 for an outburst with an umpire during the U.S. Open women’s final. Though she lost the match to Naomi Osaka, Williams cited her daughter — she shares 1-year-old Alexis Olympia with husband Alexis Ohanian — as her reason for speaking out after she was accused of getting coaching from the sidelines. “I have never cheated in my life,” she said at the time. “I have a daughter and I stand for what’s right for her. I have never cheated. You owe me an apology.”
Williams also revealed during an interview with The Sunday Project in Australia that aired on Sunday, September 23, that she and friend Duchess Meghan are still close and had been in contact as Williams weathered the controversy. “We were actually just texting each other this morning,” she noted. “We … have known each other for a long time, but we really are kind of relying on each other a lot recently.”
