Shakira Releases "La La La (Brazil 2014)" Featuring Son Milan: Video

Publish date: 2024-05-28

Sorry Pitbull, but it looks like Shakira might have stolen the FIFA World Cup anthem from you! After the Miami-based rapper debuted his official World Cup song “We Are One (Ole Ola)” with Jennifer Lopez at the Billboard Music Awards, Shakira premiered the music video for her new song “La La La (Brazil 2014),” which features a series of famous soccer players—including her longtime boyfriend Gerard Pique

Shak’s collaboration with Activia and the World Food Programme offers a clear nod to the summer games with the title and myriad of soccer stars dancing and singing along in the video.

The massive sporting event will take place in Brazil and begins on June 12. Shakira released the song in collaboration with Activia to support the World Food Programme’s School Meals Program. The Colombian sensation’s hit “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” became the biggest-selling World Cup song of all time in 2010.

Her new video features appearances from soccer stars of many different countries, including Pique, Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas, Eric Abidal, Neymar, James Rodríguez, Sergio Agüero, and Radamel Falcao.

Pique, who plays for FC Barcelona, met Shakira at the 2010 World Cup. The couple, who has a 10-year age difference (and oddly the same birthday), share son Milan, 16 months, who is also featured kicking a soccer ball in the new video.

The Grammy winner recently finished up her second stint as a coach on The Voice, but failed to bring a contestant to the show’s finals. She released her self-titled tenth studio album with hit singles “Can’t Remember to Forget You,” featuring Rihanna, and “Empire.”
