Stockard Channing Glows at 70, Face Defies Age: See the Photos
Fierce as the day she graduated Rydell High!
If these photos are any proof, Stockard Channing is positively ageless. The actress posed for photos with her star-studded cast (and Tom Hanks!), backstage at her Broadway comedy, It’s Only a Play, on Wednesday, Jan. 7, in NYC.
It’s been more than 35 years since Channing broke hearts on the big screen as Betty Rizzo in the 1978 film Grease, but the 70-year-old actress is still rocking it! The dark-haired beauty flaunted a bright smile while posing with Hanks and her castmates (including Martin Short and Matthew Broderick) backstage, looking as healthy, happy, and youthful as ever.
Even on opening night in October, when she posed, bouquet in hand, alongside fellow Broadway vet Kristin Chenoweth, we noticed Channing’s glow. And that’s not to mention her slim physique, which the West Wing alum shows off eight times a week onstage, in a formfitting black dress, complete with sheer, sequined sleeves.
So,what’s her secret? (And where do we buy it?) Speaking to Out in 2011, Channing said she does “everything I f—ing can” to stay in shape, because she wants as many different roles available to her as possible. “You get to a certain age, and you start playing a lot of mothers,” she explained.

Then the Practical Magic actress added, jokingly, “Maybe if I had children I’d feel differently, but I really hate bumping up against all these guys’ memories of their mothers, which, trust me, aren’t so hot!”
