Tom Hanks Imitates Bill Murray From Viral Look-Alike Pic

Seeing double three years later! On The Graham Norton Show on Friday, November 25, Tom Hanks finally settled the score on an iconic picture that almost put that black and blue (or white and gold?) dress to shame.

In 2013, Laura DiMichele-Ross of St. Andrew’s, Scotland, submitted a photo to a popular Facebook group, Reasons My Son Is Crying. In the shot, her tiny tot weeps while Bill Murray, clad in an orange hoodie, mimics the unsuspecting child. Even though the caption tagged the Jungle Book actor, citizens of the internet confused Murray, 66, with Hanks.

“Totally thought that was Tom Hanks…,” a user commented. Another Facebooker had a perfectly logical explanation for the baby’s mug: “Maybe he was expecting to meet Tom Hanks?”

“I know that it’s not me, because I did not take that picture,” Hanks, 60, clarified for the world on Friday. “Unless I’ve had a cranial plate shift that is medicinal, that’s not me.”

Eventually, DiMichele-Ross cleared up the confusion in her own comment. “It’s totally Bill,” she wrote. “I can vouch cause I’m the one in the photo with the massive grin thinking ‘oh my god this is going to be an awesome photo!’”

But it appears that Hanks, 60, doesn’t mind the comparison. “Well, I’ve been doing a pale imitation of Bill Murray for most of my career,” the Sully star quipped on the show. “It actually works out.”

Never one to back down from a challenge, Hanks even re-created the photo alongside fellow guests Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Gemma Arterton. See their rendition the video above!
